Ashish editor in chief Raipur, / In the wake of the recent tragic cruise accident in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed a comprehensive review of safety arrangements across all water sports activities operating in the state. Emphasising the importance of public safety, he instructed officials to ensure strict and uncompromising adherence to prescribed safety standards.
Chief Minister Shri Sai categorically stated that any form of negligence or laxity concerning public safety would not be tolerated. He has issued clear instructions to Collectors of all districts, including Dhamtari and Korba, to conduct immediate safety audits at all locations where water sports activities are being undertaken, and to enforce strict compliance with the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Further, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai directed that all equipment used in water sports must undergo regular technical inspections. He insisted upon the deployment of trained and skilled personnel at these sites and called for a robust emergency response mechanism to effectively handle unforeseen situations. Adequate availability and operational readiness of rescue equipment, life jackets, and other essential safety resources must also be ensured without exception.
Chief Minister Shri Sai has also instructed District Collectors to ensure continuous monitoring of these arrangements. In cases of any violation of safety norms, strict accountability must be fixed on the concerned officials or operators, and appropriate action should be taken as warranted.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai affirmed that the safety of citizens and tourists is the highest priority for the state administration. He emphasised that water sports activities must be conducted in a safe, well-regulated, and standard-compliant manner to effectively avoid potential risks.
He further directed that the implementation of these measures should be regularly reviewed, and periodic reports should be submitted to the state government. “Only through vigilance, sensitivity, and accountability can we ensure the safety and well-being of the public,” he affirmed.
